The subtitle of the website is "Grammar with attitude" and I just really like that. Grammar is typically such a dry, boring subject, but this website is really trying its hardest to make it less dry by including photos, videos and simple yet visually appealing interface.
This grammar mistake is the caption of an Instagram post from one of my followers/people I follow. I made sure to crop out her name and the photo because I don't want to be creepy or a total jerk, but the error is pretty obvious. I don't know why anyone types 'were' instead of the conjunction 'we're' but it seems to be somewhat of a serial offense. Is it really so difficult to add in that apostrophe? No. It's not. If you're taking the time to post the photo and caption, you should take the time to actually write a correct caption. "Were awesome" doesn't mean anything or make any sense, but "We're awesome" does. I know it's just someone's personal social media but I still feel that we should care about the image we convey to our followers, because who knows? A potential employer might check you out on social media and be a little disheartened when noticing you can't use an apostrophe.

Thanks for sharing your website. I agree with you, i think that many writers lack excitement in their writing. It becomes so boring it is difficult to read. If we really learned how to write, as you mentioned, "with attitude" it would make reading a lot more exciting. I will definitely look into this site.
ReplyDeleteI shared the same website. I also found it to be really helpful and not a total bore. I didn't even really think about how it's so difficult to navigate through the other websites. It really is and they have such long explanations that confuse me more than help me.
