Punctuation: My mother is obsessed with ellipses

First of all, my mother is a great person, but like many great people, she is really bad at grammar and spelling. She will be the first to admit this. When I receive text messages, emails or Facebook messages from her I can always count on there being about 700 ellipses. Here are some examples:

Obviously my mother doesn't really know what she is doing when it comes to ellipses. Unless she's just having a lot of incomplete thoughts, it seems to me that she uses ellipses in place of both periods and commas.

The AP Stylebook says to treat an ellipsis as a three-letter word, as an indication that a word has been deleted or to indicate an unfinished thought.

I think it's really funny the way she uses these because it makes every text message seem ultra-dramatic. I often see ellipses being used in place of commas in my work as a copy editor and I am wondering if it's something to do with our culture? We like drama, so maybe we want to use them to make everything really important? Or maybe we're all just dumb and have incomplete thoughts all the time? I'm just kidding. Possibly. In any case, I don't think explaining the AP Stylebook to my mom will do any good, but I certainly will explain it to the reporters at The Signpost when I read a story full of random ellipses.
