With great leads comes great responsibility. - Robert Stewart

SEATTLE -- Utah finally forced some more turnovers to remain in control of the Pac-12 South Division race with three weeks left in the regular season. - ESPN

My first remark is coming from what we learned earlier in the year that there are several cities that you can use just the city name and don’t have to include the state. Seattle is one them, it’s nice to notice writing techniques from the all important holy grail AP stylebook, that you have learned throughout the semester and see them in action. In this impact lead example it effectively gives the outcome of the event you are about to read about. I understand that if you are reading the article you probably have already watched the game or at least know the outcome, but it gives away what you will eventually take away from reading the article and that is that the Utes won. Also interesting that it doesn't just state that the Utes won, it says they "maintained control of the Pac-12 South, basically saying it, but not entirely. #goUtes

This grammar mistake is simply a sexist mistake. Rather than referring ro everyone in that was going to read his Facebook post as man, he should have said "people" or "person" or even the dreaded but better than sexist language he/she.

  1. How far do we go to sanitize language. "Man," falls under an expression, like "Oh, Man" It doesn't sound the same: "Oh people," Oh Woman," etc. As to the comment itself, either the LDS church is true or it is not. If you don't agree with its teachings quit or stop complaining and accept it. I like how they said finally, like Utah is playing worse than it should.
