Headlines

A lot has happened in the news recently, so there have been some pretty remarkable headlines. However, I usually like simpler headlines, like this one:

"What It's Like to Live Under ISIS"

This is a terrifying thing to think about, but it's click-bait because this is on everyone's mind right now.

Here is a more lighthearted one:

"Shia LaBeouf''s Movie Marathon was Such a Success it Changed his Starbucks Name"

LaBeouf is an interesting public figure over the last five years because he is just extremely strange and acts out often. This headline is weird but it makes you want to know more, because you know you'll be entertained by reading something about this colorful character.

Here is an editing mistake I found, it's a typical Facebook opinion-after-a-disaster comment:

I agree with everything except Obama is commander in chief and it is his job to accept some of the fault

This sentence runs on and lacks any punctuation. As I have said before, I take opinions much less seriously when they aren't well-written. It makes people seem unintelligent. If they care enough to share a comment, they should care enough to write it correctly.

  1. I share your sentiments expressed in the last paragraph. Click-bait is an interesting idea that we've also been discussing in my journalism class. I also think that your note about simple titles that are short, sweet and to the point. Sometimes simple is a good thing.

  2. I totally agree with opinion givers looking less intelligent when their grammar is incorrect. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I enjoyed your thoughts on Shia, he has had such a strange career and been in the news for rather weird events lately.
